Cortal Gran is a family home which has been passed down from generation to generation from the Fifteenth Century.
My father inherited the place in 1984, completely ruined and damaged. He set out to create a home for his family from this fortification. We have very good memories of its evolution and have created together the spirit of Cortal Gran. I still remember when we were renovating and refurbishing the whole place, installing doors, building the floors... It seems like it was yesterday when we chose the colors of the walls! This process went on until the year 2000, when we finally moved in.
Since then our family has continued growing: Pere, Marcela, Constantin, Petrus and lovely Lua ...
Cortal Gran has been the illusion of our life, we have been shaping it during a long time and, since the year 2011, we want to share it with you all.
We believe in doing things well, day-to-day joys and love as a way of life.
If you love what you do and you do it with love, the experience is infinitely better.
Cortal Gran symbolizes the love for life, our origin and the union and complicity between us. A synergy that will not leave you indifferent!
I sgd. Paula Granada
In 1365 the Caramany family was granted the Lordship of Sant Pere Pescador, which included the castle of the village and several lands in the area.
Cortal Gran’s Castle was built later on in the Fifteenth Century, in the centre of the estate. It was built as a fortified house to defend attacks by pirates and bandits, which in this area lasted until the Seventeenth century.
The Caramany family has always been dedicated to agriculture and livestock, and continues today with the exploitation of apple orchards that surround it.
Its current owner, Juan Granada de Caramany inherited the property in 1984, restored it and finally moved there in the year 2000.
In 2011 Cortal Gran opened its gardens, expanding the porches and annexes in order to hold weddings and events.
